At the Kingfield Farmers Market–Sunday, October 11, 2009

Bake for the last Bake-Off event of the season–the Pumpkin Bake-Off!

10:30am until the all the treats are eaten or the market closes.  (We need submissions by 10am, please.)

This is the last chance this season to show off your baking skills!  Anyone can enter, but only two can win.  This month’s theme: Pumpkin!  More info and a registration form here.

Remember that folks who don’t want to bake should show up at the market on the 11th, choose five bites for five bucks, and vote for their favorites.  Proceeds from bake-off sales go to benefit your favorite, Kingfield Farmers Market!

The Bake-Off events are sponsored by Linden Hills Co-op. They also donate the prizes: $35 gift certificate for the Pro-Choice 1st Place Winner and a $15 gift certificate for the 1st Place People’s Choice Winner.

Mark your calendar for a pumpkin carving contest at the market on October 25th!  (And bring your kids to the market to carve their pumpkins.)

Keep checking here for more details.  The event is sponsored by Nicollet Ace Hardware.

Vendor Profile

Yer Yang

Yer Yang’s stall and its accompanying pails of flower bouquets spread out to greet market patrons as they enter Kingfield Farmers Market from the sidewalk along Nicollet Avenue. The riotously colored bouquets run just a few dollars, and they are crafted each Sunday morning by Yer Yang and her daughters, Pa and Ma. After sniffing around the flowers for a bit, waiting for a break in the steady stream of customers, I got the chance to speak with Pa while her mother, Yer, set out pints of green beans. read more>>
